Is the Tuton app free?

The app is free to download, and students use it free with their tutor. Tutors need an active Tuton plan, which you can start either in the app or on the web.

Do I need the app to use Tuton?

No. Tuton runs fully in your browser and nothing is locked behind the app. The app is a companion for the time between lessons: reminders, messages, homework and your schedule in your pocket.

Can I run a whole lesson from my phone?

You can join the lesson from your phone with two-way video and audio, and use in-call chat, the live lesson notes and the lesson's vocabulary. The whiteboard, games and lesson pages stay on the computer, so for teaching we recommend joining from a laptop or desktop and keeping the phone as your backup.

Can my students use it too?

Yes. Students sign in with a 6-character connection code and get their vocabulary flashcards, study and quiz modes, homework, schedule, messages and their learning streak.

What notifications does it send?

Lesson reminders before class, new messages, booking requests, and homework that has been assigned, submitted or reviewed. You can turn each category on or off in the app's notification settings.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. The iPhone app is live now and Android is coming. Until then, Android users can use Tuton in their mobile browser.

What stays on the computer

You can join the lesson video call from your phone, and it works properly: real two-way video, and audio that keeps running when the screen locks. But the full classroom is a desktop experience. The whiteboard, in-lesson games, lesson pages and the Space canvas all live on the computer, along with building your library lessons, scheduling and your public profile. For teaching, join from a laptop and keep the phone as your backup.
