    In the news: The story

Read a 126-word news story: One Budget, Many Money Worries

People across the UK are looking to the government’s budget for help with everyday costs, but their needs differ. A single mother managing on one income wants help with household bills, while a young job seeker hopes for more training and paid work. A driver who spends much of his pay on petrol would like a cut in fuel duty, while a higher earner says he would accept paying more tax to support public services. A retired woman says her savings are shrinking as she uses them to cover living costs. Other people raised concerns about rent, university debt, pensions and the chance to buy a home. Their views show how one government decision can affect people differently, depending on their work, age and family situation.
